The Undelete’s Secure Delete not only deletes the file, but it overwrites the disk space the file previously occupied, thereby removing any remaining traces of the file left on the disk. This is done by overwriting it with a specific bit pattern specified for this purpose by the National Security Agency (NSA) for the Department of Defense (DOD). After the file has been overwritten, it is deleted. The Secure Delete procedure makes it virtually impossible for anyone to access sensitive file data from a disk after it has been deleted from the Recovery Bin.
The Secure Delete option can be set to overwrite files as they are purged from the Recovery Bin, or immediately as they are deleted. When selected in Global Settings or in Drive Settings, the Secure Delete security feature will permanently erase any file that is deleted from the Recovery Bin. This is done by overwriting it with a specific bit pattern specified for this purpose by the National Security Agency (NSA) for the Department of Defense (DOD). Finally, after the file has been overwritten, it is deleted. The Secure Delete procedure makes it virtually impossible for anyone to access sensitive file data from a disk after it has been deleted from the Recovery Bin.
Undelete‘s Secure Delete is used by 50,000 customers globally as the first line of defense before backup since Undelete provides true continuous data protection for easy recovery and secure deletion of individual files.
Secure Delete Electronic File Shredder
With Secure Delete enabled, files that are purged from the recovery bin are overwritten with random data using a methodology developed for the National Security Agency. A version of this popular feature introduces the ability to securely delete files immediately (as they are deleted). This along with the Wipe Free Space functionality that overwrites a volume’s free space (which may contain past remnants of confidential data) provides a complete solution for erasing secure data.
Full-Disclosure Of Deleted Files
The Bin displays information about each deleted file including the file owner, the date and time the file was deleted, and the account used to delete the file.
Recovery Bin
The Recovery Bin catches all files no matter how they were deleted, allowing instant recovery or secure delete with just a few clicks of the mouse. The Recovery Bin mimics the directory structure of your disk and includes a powerful search function, making it easy to find and recover or securely delete files. Undelete adjusts the Recovery Bin to your volume’s available space, automatically protecting more files when free space is available and less data when it is not.
Dig Deeper Search
Dig Deeper Search allows you to search for and recover or securely delete files deleted before Undelete was installed, provided they haven’t been overwritten. Undelete will save you time with support by also recreating the original folder paths, making reorganizing your restored files a snap.
InvisiTasking Technology
InvisiTasking allows for all background operations within Undelete to run with zero overhead. These tasks include, automatic purging of the Recovery Bin, moving files from one volume to another, securely overwriting free spaces using the automatic Wipe Free Space feature, and automatically adjusting the size of the enhanced Recovery Bin.
